So a buddy and me are headed out West in the beginning of January, and after a few weeks or so of seeing the sights, always mindful of the wallet, we plan on searching for a home in Seattle. He's gonna be going to massage therapy school and I plan on working uhhh whatever I can get sort of thing. We've checked out a few apts. on craigslist, but naturally, the most affordable stuff is always outside where we'd like to be (fremont, capitol hill, etc.) I've heard with arduous searching, the good lord willing, at lucks' dispense, you can find a good deal downtown. So... I'm wondering if anyone has got any leads in this direction? We're two twenty one year old fellas who would ideally like to spend $400 a piece (you say it's impossible? i'm a dreamer? well, i've heard it said) not including utilities and other expenses. We're looking for a place for February, and would be more than happy to live with other people besides ourselves. So, how 'bout it? Have a pleasant afternoon!

Anything can be found with due diligence, but you did not mention if you need a 1 bedroom or 2 bedroom apt,for a one bedroom $800.00 places can be had,but a two bedroom in a city where the economy seems to be on steroids,I think you guys may need to look at raising the budget or venturing furthur out...good luck

I'd say to stop in for a couple of weeks at the downtown Youth Hostel .... I forget the exact name .... and work from there on getting something. It's worthwhile buying the International Youth Hostel membership, iirc. For some reason craigslist doesn't have all the cheaper rentals in Seattle even though it does for most places. Check out seattletimes.com, I think The Stranger is online also. Also ask around at the hostel if you choose to go there.

The best apartment resource is the combined Classifieds for the two largest local newspapers. The site is called NWSource.com. I selected for you to downtown and central Seattle, which has many neighborhoods, labeled on the map on that page. http://rentals.nwsource.com/rentals/...t=1&search2=No
