Well, what's an "insane commute" to you?

For me, to commute to Laurelhurst from any of those places you mentioned would be insane to make on a daily basis. Not only having to rely on the ferry system but also you'd be fighting the University of Washington traffic on the streets. Personally, I'd never want to do it. However, if that's where you'd like to live and you wouldn't mind spending possibly 5 to 6 hours a day commuting, then perhaps it isn't insane to you.

If you had your own heliport out there on Bainbridge or Vashon, then ya may be able to pull it off.

Ya, if you scratch "insane commute" off the list the other criteria are meetable. Your money would go farthest around Poulsbo. Maybe you can find a job at a hospital over on Kitsap?

Bainbridge is a 25 min ferry to seattle,,600k you can live fairly close to the Bainbridge terminal...from Seattle ferry Terminal to the hospital,I don't know how far that is,,,,As I will work in Seattle as well but trying to avoid the commute,,where I could afford and have to work would be at best 25-40 minutes away--sit on the I-5 or sit of the Ferry..

well, by "insane commute" i guess i mean anything over an hr each way so it sounds like the islands are out.

any other areas where you could get a small plot of land for that $ within 40-60 mins of CH?

alternatively i'm looking at least for a family friendly neighborhood with easy access to green space/woods/water/walks...

Default just imagine...

Vashon is beautiful - but depending on the ferry and the time it takes especially with the Summer tourist crowd would not be a good choice. Sorry!

How about Maple Valley? Lots of trees, parks and lakes. Probably about 60 minute commute. Some great neighborhoods there and homes on 1/2 acre + would be reasonable for under $600,000.

Wishing you much luck!
