With many new families moving in to take the thousands of new jobs at Amazon, enrollment is going up again despite the decreases caused by the lack of babies 5 years ago when the economy tanked and people decided to wait. On the other hand, the state budget is not close to recovering from the lack of tax revenue during those years, so class sizes have increased. It will require extensive research to find the districts with the greatest need. Some new home developments are popping up in the suburbs again, but Seattle has always had a low percentage of children per household, and many people move to the eastside when their kids are old enough to start school. Special Ed teachers have the most demand, they tend to burn out and parents here are well educated and demand services. I'm not familiar with Tacoma.

Special education gives you an advantage with the numbers on IEPs growing, and parents concerned for their kids educations, that will hire advocates and lawyers to make sure they are getting the services their children need. I would suggest starting with the Lake Washington and Issaquah School Districts.

Have you ever thought of working for the Bureau of Indian Education? It is primarily 95% Native Americans. The pay is equivalent to the public schools. Less students. More money to meet the needs of the SPED children… If you would like more informations just let me know…

I don't think there are many BOI (Bureau of Indian Affairs) jobs near Seattle. Puyallup maybe? That would be fine. I will check into it. PM me
