In 2012 it was visible from Seattle 83 times, or on average once every 4.4 days at 3pm. I wonder how many fewer times it would be visible at 9am or Noon (the other 2 times a day the webcam snaps a shot)?

Out of curiosity, and nothing else to do on this gray day, I checked the images he used. To get to 83 he is being extremely generous on what he counts as "can see Rainier". The only way to get that is if any tiny sliver through the haze is visible. Counting only days when you can actually see the mountain, or most of it, it's 58 days, once a week. Surprisingly July was not the month when it was most visible, even though Seattle gets some of the best weather then. On most days even when it was bright and sunny out the air was so hazy you still couldn't see Rainier, even though it was a beautiful day.

Interesting, mostly in Sept in 2012. I wonder about this year, so far. Hmmm.

I don't care. When I can see the mountain in all it's glory, it's absolutely brilliant and a gift. Shame when it's not visible we only have two huge dramatic mountain ranges to look at.

It seems like I see it more like 300 days of the year, though it may only be for a short time and the time of day varies. I see the top of it through my office window and almost the whole thing over Lake Washington on the way to work and back, but of course it winter it's dark when I go in and when I go home.

Ive lived here three months and seen it 4 times. It is so very spectacular each time. the first time i saw it was an OMG "did you see that" moment! The only place for me is along I90 right at the front Street exit into Issaquah, while heading East. It appears right in the valley making it perfectly framed, adding to the beauty.
