Whoops, yeah gouge haha.

And had a great experience with alison03's hubby. Definitely can recommend after spending the past few weekends with a few different dealerships - will be going back to him to do business for sure. If you're in the market, message her and get his number. Great guy who is knowledgable and loves his cars!

I've had good experiences at a number of Honda dealerships (once bought one from Renton Honda... no sales pressure at all). Got my Subaru from the one in Kirkland.

I'm not sure why you're asking us about which car you should buy. Make sure you do a lot of research! I never step foot onto a car dealership lot without knowing which model I'm interested in and how much it should cost.

Thanks for the response. I'm mostly asking where I can go that sells newer used (last 5 years)/or possibly new...and with decent and honest people, not so much which car specifically. From what I've researched, I've found larger dealerships seem to have less markup, but also less room to negotiate.

We bought ours from Barrier, and they are indeed pleasant to deal with. Completely different than any other dealership I've ever been in. Maybe it was just our salesperson.

We also had a good experience with Toyota of Kirkland - not as chill as Barrier, but not desperate either. I have never bought a car from them, but I will say that Michael's Toyota of Bellevue has an excellent service center, at least IME. If we're ever in the market for another toyota (although I expect mine to last another 10+ years), we'll see how their sales staff is.

Dodge, Ford and GM of Bellevue seem to get all their salespeople from the same high-pressure school of car sales. Not. going. back. Not to Honda of Bellevue either.

Default Do NOT give SSN to dealerships

I am not sure if this is still the accepted practice amongst a few select dealerships, but a sales rep might ask for your Social Security Number prior to closing the sale. The reason he/she may give is for compliance with the Patriot Act. This is not true. My brother has had his identity stolen a few years back, which he traced to a local car dealership, that which with he chose not to business. He contacted the Attorney General of WA. The State AG sent him a letter, which specifically stated that automobile dealerships MAY NOT require an SSN to complete a sale, especially if you come in with your own financing (i.e,. pre-approval or loan from you bank or credit union). IIRC, the social may be required by the lender, not the dealer. Just my .02.
