David Stern says Seattle group that bid for Sacramento Kings has filed for relocation - ESPN

Looking like the Kings WILL be relocating to Seattle sooner than later.

So, my question is, should they change the name back to the Supersonics? Leave it the Kings? Go with something new? Should there be ANY changes made?

There's no way it will be anything but the Sonics.

I don't think the Kings are going to relocate to Seattle. But I've been wrong before. The name would have to be the Supersonics, not only for nostagia's sake, but how cool is it to be named after an airplane which never got built, and canceled in 1971?

What a stupid thread. Im pretty sure it's be hard to find a Seattle NBA fan that would want to call them the Kings. Great job.

Sonics. or Queens. Latter might be a disadvantage for recruiting.

The Sonics name, logo, uniforms, colors, and even championship banner were all retained as part of the Clay Bennett deal. There isn't any question they would revert back to the same name. This poll is irrelevant. Also the green vs. yellow uniform argument doesn't make sense. Seattle has always had green uniforms for away, and yellow or white for home. I believe the Sonics dropped their yellow home uni's in the 70's.

However, The Cleveland Browns set up a similar deal when their team moved to Baltimore. As Dr. Phil would ask, how's that workin' for 'ya?

BTW, there are still roadblocks to this deal. Sacramento has been given the opportunity to counter. Then the NBA must approve the move. This is far from over, though the odds are in Seattle's favor. I'm not considering this a done deal until all obstacles are removed. (Remember when Seattle almost lost the Seahawks?...guess what, divine guidance, and some bone-headed management (Ken Behring) saved them somehow by coming to their senses by selling the team to Paul Allen). Otherwise the Hawks might indeed be playing near Disneyland.

Default Supersonics

http://www.nba.com/2013/news/02/06/s...relocation.ap/

Sounds like the Supersonics name is going to be used(if it happens). About 6 paragraphs down.
