Well I'll be getting out of the Army the end of this year and want to move to Seattle. I was planning on using my GI bill to go to school. I'll be 23 and single so I'd figure I would take a chance of moving somewhere I've never been, (originally from Texas.) I was planning on going to school full time but I wouldn't mind working for extra income, seeing how I'll only be scraping by with the GI bill. I have been working in the IT field with a TS security clearance and a Security + certification. There's plenty of posts sort of similar to mine but everyone's situation is different. I'm really looking for advice from people who live there to let me know if I should go for it or if I'm crazy. Any and all tips, comments or concerns would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Being from Texas, you will find the cost of living here to be much higher. People tend to be shocked when moving here from Texas. The other big difference, of course, is the weather. We really do get 9 months of rain and/or cloudy skies, this morning it's 48 and only supposed to hit 70, which for me is great but not like Texas in August.

If you do get here, keep an eye on the Port website, they periodically announce openings for student internships and their veterans fellowship program.
