Any recommendations for the best internet in the capitol hill area?

Looking like the best options are either Comcast or Century Link.. Century Link is DSL so slower (12mbps top speed) and Comcast is typically unreliable since everyone who has it is on the same node.

Any advice is welcome

I have both in my home ... in the last year, never had an outage with Century Link ... Comcast not so.

Is the 12mbps (fastest they offer) Century Link offers fast enough or is it slow? I despise slow internet.. I mean it doesn't need to be insane, but it needs to be fast.

I live at Belmont and Olive Way and have no problems whatsoever with Comcast. I have their 15mbps package and depending on the time of the day the measures speedtest.net speeds can actually get close to that. I am online pretty much 24/7 and use a lot of Netflix, Spotify etc...all working well with no speed-problems whatsoever. I've been here for almost two yearsnow and had one outage about a year ago. It was speedily resolved by a comcast technician at no charge.

So, despite their dubious reputation I cannot really say anything negative about comcast, apart from maybe that I find their service at $60 for internet only totally overpriced. In the UK I got the same speed home internet for free with my GBP20/month cell phone contract...as a consumer you appear to be in a slightly better position over there

12mbps is not the fastest they offer... where did you get that from? CenturyLink offers 40mbps DSL.
My experience with CenturyLink has been pretty good. Never any downtime (ever).
