Hi
I was looking for autism resources in the Redmond area
My son is 7 and is high functioning and has a big language delay
I would love some advice on
1. The best school
2. Good hometherapists - here in TN we ran a full home therapy program with private therapists - we did floortime and play therapy - at about 18-25 dollars an hour

Thanks in advance for your help

Like Washington School District has a great Special Ed Program, especially Mead School in Sammamish.

Not sure if private school is an option you would be looking into since it's a bit pricey, but Hamlin Robinson is a great school for kids who have language/speech delays. My son has language delays as well, and I'm sending him there. They also offer (at extra cost) a bus service to bring the child out to Redmond, which is convenient since it's where I live, so I can just pick up locally instead of driving out to Seattle and back.

My son spent preschool and kindergarten in the Lake Washington school district, and they have a great special education program. My son has improved leaps and bounds in the past 3 years. The staff is very qualified and they are great about keeping in communication with the parents, either through emails or meetings. He attended Dickinson Elementary. I have also heard great things about Mead in Sammamish.

My son went to speech therapy down in Renton at Valley Children's (it's near by Ikea) because we had a REALLY hard time finding one on the Eastside. It's also not unusual to be put on a waiting list for openings. Ours was only a few months because we were willing to take ANY available slot and we paid cash (our insurance did not cover speech therapy, boooooo!)

Good luck!

I've been told that the Lake Washington School District (which includes Redmond) has excellent programs for autistic students. The district has a higher than average number of autistic/Aspergers students, they presume due to the number of parents with science/computer science backgrounds and older parents. I think it's fascinating.
