Have you designed or invented something, but been put off developing it because of the patent process?
I’ve looked into the patent process, and firstly it is expensive, and secondly it doesn’t offer any real protection to the intellectual property of the inventor or designer. I say this because, even if you have proof of ownership of a design, you need to have the finances to take legal action yourself if someone steals your invention.
I ask this question because I have a few designs, that financially would probably not be of benefit to me, but maybe the world as a whole, ( they are mainly environmentally friendly in design ). They would also cost a lot to develop, but could not be done in secrecy, so would need patenting previously to the development.
Would this, or could this, put you off inventing or designing things?
