We should all feel grateful we live where we do in Florida. Look how bad the virus is spreading in other states and look how bad the virus is surging again in the extremely hard hit northeast. Looks like the lockdowns and mask mandates there simply cannot stop the virus.

Moderna says preliminary trial data shows its coronavirus vaccine is more than 94% effective
https://www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/11/16/...effective.html

Moderna said preliminary phase three trial data shows its coronavirus vaccine is more than 94% effective in preventing Covid-19 — a result CEO Stephane Bancel called a "game changer."

The analysis evaluated 95 confirmed Covid-19 infections among the trial's 30,000 participants. Moderna, which developed its vaccine in collaboration with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said 90 cases of Covid-19 were observed in the placebo group versus five cases observed in the group that received its two-dose vaccine. That resulted in an estimated vaccine efficacy of 94.5%, it said.

Glad this will end soon.

Yep. I am so thankful for Operation Warp Speed and all the people who worked on it. Bravo Mr. President.

US Coronavirus: With possible vaccine on the horizon, country is likely in 'last big surge' of the Covid-19 pandemic's toughest phase
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/us...se/ar-BB1b7mEQ

The US is likely in the "last big surge" before a possible Covid-19 vaccine can start to offer help in the coming months, one expert says. But for now, the country is continuing to set grim case and hospitalization records and the pandemic shows no signs of slowing down.

"The months ahead are going to look better than the weeks ahead," former US Food and Drug Administration commissioner Dr. Mark McClellan said at a Tuesday event hosted by Duke University.

"Things are going to start gradually getting better," he said. "Won't be past this for still months to come. But it will start getting better by early 2021," he said, with the help of a vaccine.

Fauci says the average American could get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as April: 'I would take the vaccine'
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/fa...ne/ar-BB1b8TaV

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading infectious disease expert who has guided the U.S. through the pandemic, projected Americans could expect their first doses of an approved coronavirus vaccine as early as April.

Front-line health care workers are expected to get their first doses by the end of December or early January. After prioritizing people at risk of infection or severe disease, the healthy general population can expect first doses of a vaccine starting in April and through July if all continues on track, Fauci told the USA TODAY Editorial Board on Wednesday.

If most of the population is vaccinated by summer and fall, Fauci said, people can start looking forward to returning to pre-pandemic normalcy.

Officials urge caution over Thanksgiving as COVID-19 cases surge in Sarasota-Manatee
https://amp.heraldtribune.com/amp/3775518001

As new coronavirus infections spike again in Sarasota and Manatee counties, local officials are urging residents to be careful over the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

Sarasota and Manatee counties both are averaging more than 100 new cases a day over the last seven days, roughly triple the number of new cases the region was experiencing in late August and early September.

With the virus approaching levels not seen since the height of the pandemic in July, there are concerns that hospitals again could be strained by the number of COVID-19 patients.

Family gatherings over Thanksgiving could further fuel the spread of the virus.
