I am a 50 year old single dad with 3 children, ages 11, 10 and 6 (I started late!!). I am relocating from Massachusetts and need to find a furnished rental (at least 2 bedrooms but 3 would be better) for April and May for now (it's a long story). This alone seems to be an impossible task. I live in a better, residential town of about 13,000. I have been looking south and east of Tampa, specifically Lakeland and Brandon (They are closer to Disney), Sarasota (Lakewood Ranch I hear is nice, but maybe impossible to find and pricey). I need a place that is going to be safe, have a good elementary school and not be packed in like sardines (pool access would be nice, too). I have also been considering looking around Disney as the kids are not thrilled about moving, so being around Disney may help. They are concerned about making new friends. Any opinions about which areas are better for my situation? How are these townhouses in managed developments? They are a dime a dozen in the Disney area and all seem to have pools and are furnished. Can anyone give me some insight or opinions regarding children relocating to Florida. If anyone knows of anyone, maybe a snowbird heading north who has a place available, let me know.
