So, do the snowbirds make friends with the locals, or do the snowbirds pretty much hang out together?

Both. Depends on the snowbird. I love our snowbird friends. A safe trip back to all.

Well, strictly speaking I can't be called a snowbird as I travel from England to Florida during September to Novenber. We make friends quite easily and have found Floridians very friendly and welcoming. For some reason they like our accent (even though we don't actually have one) Just joking ofcourse.
We adore America and the people, can't complain about anything. Well......perhaps just a little about the too sweet, too salty food and definately too much on offer when one goes out for a meal. A side salad would last us for a week!

It probably depends on the types of activities you partiscipate in - we do tennis, bridge, mahjongg, photography. We've met very interesting snowbirds and permanent residents. Everyone mixes well. We are in a planned community but go outside our development for many activities.

In my opinion the French Canadians stick together, people from up north USA can go either way.

Personally, I try very hard to make friends in Florida! I don't want to be a snowbird....want to move there, as it's the best place I have lived! And this past winter...I met some wonderful people, who I would love to be friends with forever!

I live in Florida year round and most of my friends are snow birds. Some are my neighbors and others are friends I met through the Corvettes of Charlotte County Club. At least half of our club members are snowbirds. It is pretty easy to make friends if you get involved and get to know your neighbors.

I bartend and almost all of the snowbirds come in with other snowbirds. In my experience, and I am not saying all of the snowbirds do this, they tend to geographically stick together.

We have friends and family from up North that are snow birds. When they are here we see them a LOT and when they go back we keep in touch. It's always nice to see them when they fly back in!
