We are looking to rent a place in the Sarasota,Venice or surrounding area for the month of Feb. and March. We have a large well behaved well groomed dog (collie). Most places I've tried have weight restrictions or don't allow pets at all. Senior community is o.k. also. I would be grateful for any help I get.
thanks

Contact Rent Me Florida or go to their web site and search the rentals they have available. Also, if you contact them they can put you on a list to help you find a rental as well. www.rentmeflorida.com

A lot of them do not allow pets. Another suggestion would be to go to find a community that allows pets and ask the community manager if there any rentals available for the dates you are looking.

Before we bought our home we used Vacationrentalpros.com and while it's pricey the properties are very nice. We rented a 2/2 with pool in Venice that was pet friendly, our dog is 95 pounds and was not a problem.

We also used the vrbo.com site (vacationrentalsbyowner). We had great luck with one and not so great luck with the other. Both were pet friendly. One unknown to us was in foreclosure and was not well maintained, the other was just fine. If you have someone in the area that could check the properties before you commit to renting you can avoid disappointment.

Go to vrbo.com and click on Florida on the US map. Next select your area and all the listings will come up. Any listing with the Paw in bold and not grayed out will allow pets. In this search of Siesta there are many listings that allow pets:

Siesta Key Vacation Rentals by Owner, Siesta Key Florida VRBO®, Siesta Key Condos, Siesta Key Beach Rentals (http://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/south-west/siesta-key - broken link)

Now, many have weight restrictions but several just said 'pet friendly'.

We struggled for months to find pet friendly rental in the area, for a price we could afford. Actually thinking now of purchasing a place in the area, and making it available for rent to other pet owners...certainly is a market for it!

Anyway, we were finally able to rent a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, furnished appartement. This realtor has several appts. for rent in the sarasota area. I don't know if there is a weight restriction, however. Our dog is only 10 pounds. We have not personally seen the place, but it looks fine, though a bit farther from the beach than I wanted to be. Maybe there is something on this site for you....Good Luck!
