Greetings fellow Earthlings (ha) -

I'll be moving to Santa Fe with my fiance in pursuit of a master's degree at a local college.
My fiance only has a high school education and we're just wondering what kind of full-time jobs are best and may be available for someone without a college degree? He's willing to work just about anywhere, but we're looking for local opinion about what sort of jobs pay relatively well for someone who is primarily skilled in customer services.

Thanks!
Alissa

Lots of things in the Santa Fe New Mexican online. Many customer service positions. That's where I'm looking.

We have the highest (or second-highest) living wage in the country - I believe it's now $10.65/hour. So at 2040 hours/yr the annual minimum wage job would pay $21,726 gross. Depending on your fiancé's specific field experience he may be able to get more but at least you have the floor to budget with. In addition to looking at the want ads, he should pound the pavement and go into businesses that he'd like to work in to see what's up. Many jobs are right-time, right-place opportunities and aren't announced.
Good luck!

Finding a job in Santa Fe can be tough. I would have a job before I moved to Santa Fe. Many people who work in the galleries that I used to talk to all the time spent months trying to find a job and living on the 'living wage" in Santa Fe, good luck. I made $50,000 a year and barely made rent and paid my bills. Many people come to Santa Fe with the idea of finding a job there....and they are called the homeless of Santa Fe. It is not an easy place to find a job. I have a Masters degree and am working on a second Masters in a field that pays pretty well. I had a job but the cost of living in Santa Fe.....you cannot live a decent life in Santa Fe on the "living wage" in my opinion.
