How bad is the traffic from Oakland to San Jose in the morning and from San Jose to Oakland at night? Also, how long would it take, on average? This would be downtown Oakland and downtown San Jose. Thanks!

Ugh, it's terrible. I'm about to leave for Oakland right now just to get there by 8:30.

Doing that on a regular basis is no way to spend a life.

One of the worst commutes in the Bay Area, equally as bad as the Antioch to Concord crawl. It's not quite a Van Nuys to Los Angeles though.

So the widening of 880 hasn't helped much down there?

It doesn't seem to slow down much coming through Milpitas anymore. I didn't have any problem on a "test commute" to Union City. It's from Union City to Oakland that's the problem.

Yeah, the stretch of I-880 north of CA-84 is pretty bad during commute hours.
