I am a recent graduate and I got a 1 br 1 bath place in the Julian/McKee area. Some people told me that it has a reputation of being a bad neighborhood. My property manager told me that there have not been any break-ins or entering for the last 2 years.

Please help about whether I should keep the place or move out after 1 month.

Thank You,
Ashton.

Do you mean the area where McKee becomes Julian? They are the same street. The name changes as it crosses 101. It's not a terrible area.

Are you Hispanic? If so, you have a choice to make in that area: red or blue..

You'll be alright but I would prefer to live further west. Unless you are getting a fantastic deal I would choose elsewhere.

I would want to be further west, too. The West San Carlos/Meridian area is similarly priced, similar in feel, but not as dangerous.

Yes, those are gangs... I would stay away from that area if at all possible. If you do decide to go with the rental, short-term would be better so you can decide for yourself.
