I live in Sunnyvale but this might apply to anyone in any city. Well I work nights and get off anywhere from 3-5am. When Im driving home I always get stopped at this one very small intersection. Driving down the whole street itll be green until i get close, then itll turn red. Maybe Its just me but this aggravates me so much because Im stopping for no reason, using up my brakes and wasting gas. btw theres no cross traffic its in the middle of the night and no one is out. This is the last light I have to pass before i turn into my residential neighborhood.

For people that might know, im talking about Fremont Ave coming from 85 going towards Sunnyvale-Saratoga. I understand SV-SA is a busy and major intersection and that light will always be red but all the intersections before that are green until theres cross traffic(ex. Mary, Hollenbeck). The light im talking about is Fieldfair. It seems this light changes around for no reason. Im a courier and see intersections like this all the time, that change red green for no apparent reason.

Can I call the city and ask them to change this? Is that even a possibility?

It is possible this light is not functioning correctly and has somehow gotten out of sync with other lights. You should report your observation, but, if the light is working as designed, I doubt the city will change the design based on one report.

BTW, this particular intersection is not the same as the intersections you encounter before you get to this one. So, it is perfectly OK for the light at this intersection to behave differently. I do understand how frustrating it can be for the last light before your neighborhood to stop you.
