I am single again looking for affordable housing in Palo Alto. I work per diem as a medical assistant and can't spend more than $900/month for rent. I've been independent for so long that I do best being alone.

Any suggestions on where to find housing in Palo Alto/Menlo Park areas?

Both Palo Alto and Menlo Park are very expensive cities, so I think you need to plan on commuting thre if you can only spend $900 month.

$900 won't get you anything in Palo Alto. Look to Mountain View to the south or Redwood City to the north. You might be able to get a studio apt for that. The other option is to get room mates.

I really doubt you could find anything in Mountain View for that price. Maybe something in the East Bay or parts of San Jose.

1-bedroom apartments in Palo Alto are around twice your budgeted rent.

Default Thanks for all the suggestions

Thank you all for responding to my original posting. I have decided that it would be best to get a benefited job first (rather than per diem) then look for what I can really afford. In the mean while, I have to stay put and save as much money as I can.

Thanks again.
