This is my favorite thread. I went to Tierra Mia and had the Horchata Latte, but sadly report it barely had any of the deep horchata flavor I was expecting.

These days, Oakland is never far behind SF in cultural offerings, and sometimes even beats it to the punch. Not to be left out, Oakland is now getting one of these too...

Also, here is the indiegogo page where they are trying to raise money for the build out. Cool informative video inside:

One of my favorite grocery stores back in Texas had an aqua frescas stand that sold a great horchata (and strawberry!). I'd always pick one up while I shopped. Maybe it's very different served cold? Not sure what I was expecting. Taqueria Sinaloa also has a great horchata.

Oh yup definitely. I think at least, that was my first "hot" horchata. I think of horchata having a sort of subtle sweet, creamy, and a little spicy. Since it is basically spiced rice/almond milk A quiet flavor for sure. Tierra Mia didn't use all horchata, they used a horchata syrup. You wouldn't be able to steam horchata and get that perfect frothy milk texture. I bet you'l like the iced ones better. The hot was definitely in the vein of slightly horchata not hit you in the face horchata...which would be hard to accomplish with a hot beverage.

You can always co and have a cappuccino. They definitely had the milk steaming on lock!
