Hi Everyone,

My husband and I are taking our twin six year old boys and one black Lab (mellow at 9 yrs.) to Mendocino for four days in August.

We're staying two nights at the Stanford Inn and one night at the Beachcomber. We're coming from Sacramento.

Any other hotels/Inns along the way to Mendocino or in that you can recommend for kids/dog?

I'd LOVE restaurant recommendations along the way and in Mendo that kids could tolerate/like.

Any activities that you'd recommend?

Thanks!!

Alley

We brought our son up to Mendo. when he was little...frankly, it's not really a family (and I mean kids under 5) town at all.
We found it very adult oriented from art galleries to fine restaurants.
Have you considered the Fort Bragg area too?
That was a better family experience for us.

We like the Mendocino/North Coast Brewing company. (I'm thinking it was in Ft Bragg) The food is alright, but the beer is fabulous and it's also full of families (beer is a much needed staple for us if you're traveling w/ kids!) It was busy so try to go early or make reservations.

McKericher State park is a must see. There's a beautiful and easy to walk trail that showcases some really beautiful landscape/beach.

Also, your kids will love the "glass beach" in Ft. Bragg (full of smooth colored glass)

The skunk train is also worthwhile (also in Ft Bragg).

So I agree with previous post that Ft Bragg is more child friendly for restaurants/activities. It's a close enough drive from Mendocino, so no worries there.
