Helllloooooo!!!!

Trying to weigh the pros and cons of moving into different areas in SF, yada, yada and am looking at the express bus schedules out of Richmond and Sunset...looks like about 30 minutes to downtown. Are the schedules accurate? Are there any common delays and why? thanks

The schedules are accurate on print only, if your taking the 38 Geary Limited or any bus heading downtown dont sit at the back of the bus, "beware", the only delays are when there are marathons like the bay to breakers or some one steps out in front of a moving bus which is common.

The muni is really a nightmare, so many times I'd have to wait an hour or so for the bus, only to have 3 buses all come at the same time.

Default Alright then...

OK, so who in the Bay Area is ever on time for work? Driving is a nightmare. Public transportation is a nightmare. What's left? Compost-fueled jetpacks?

Seriously. Do you just start out for work at 5am and hope for the best?

Why don't you check out this website 20 minutes before you leave your home. This way, you know when to head to the bus stop. Now that I found this site, I don't use the schedules.

Cheers!

4 years of my Undergrad life and 4 years of Grad school where I used muni and like 75% of the time they run late.... Still better than paying Parking fees and such. Also a few of the bus stops have the little computerized ticker that tell you how many minutes before the next bus/muni will get to your stop.

As for what delays muni... weather, accidents, traffic... if the bus drive sneezes wrong... (just kidding about the last one XD

I don't know. I think the Express buses are a little more accurate than the regular or Limited 38. I'd say 30 minutes is about right on the express bus on an average day, depending how far out you live. I'm not familiar with the Sunset routes though.

I drive to work, so this site is my best friend: 511.org -- Traffic: Traffic Map with Driving Times

Luckily I'm the boss, so it doesn't really matter if I'm a few minutes late. But seriously, you do have to allow extra time when taking the bus... my roommate takes it to North Beach (from Bayview), and leaves 45-60 minutes before her shift starts. Oh, and she claims it's all about who is driving that day - one lady gets her there in 20 minutes flat, while another takes twice as long. 'Tis life in a big city, I guess.
