Hello everybody,

I am moving to work in UCSF/Mission Bay in November with my wife and two 2-year old girls. My rent budget is about 1300-1700$/month and I dont care living in suburbs. The problem is I dont know how the transportation works. I prefer not to buy a car during the first several months. Please advise regarding living in SF or tha bay area and the transportation times using the BART, CalTrain etc. Maybe I should go to Lafayette, Berkley...
Thanks,

Thanks,
$1300-$1700 will get you a studio in SF and maybe a 1 bed apt in the suburbs. You're going have to up you budget if you want anything better for 4 people.

As for local transportation,
BART - Bay Area Rapid Transit

I should have added that there are light rail streetcars in SF that run between the Caltrain station and UCSF/Mission Bay. Actually, it's not that far to walk. The light rail continues to BART stations about 3/4 mile away.
