I'm looking for pics from the Bay Area, specifically San Francisco, from the '70s, '80s, and '90s. I couldn't find many online, and I wanted to see if anyone had any or knew where I could find them online. The reason I wanted to see them is because I wanted to see how SF/Bay Area looked and changed through the years. Look forward to seeing your responses- thanks!

My gut instinct is that you're not going to see much difference. At least in the residential market, nothing much has been built since the '50s, and much of the city dates from after the earthquake of 1906. I've heard people mention that they've been going down El Camino Real in San Mateo County for 40 years and it still looks the same.

There's some great 70's and 80's pictures of West Oakland here (http://www.flickr.com/search/?w=21274934@N00&q=West%20Oakland - broken link)...

Oakland Berkeley and SF still look largely the same for the most part. Perhaps when you get around the more sprawling areas of the south and outer east bay is where you may see more noticeable changes between then and now.

I would post some of my old family pictures, but they are mostly family pictures that are obstructed by, well, pictures of my family. The vast majority of those photos are on our old street on Ramsell in Ingleside Heights or in a few areas of The City during special occasions. My parents, grandparents and my siblings and I didn't take many pictures of The City growing up because we took it for granted, I guess. Sorta like how now I don't have dozens of photos of DC or Baltimore cityscapes lying around. SF still looks the same for the most part. The only differences you would see in those pictures, if I did post a few, are how people in the 70's, 80's and 90's dressed differently. The physical/architectural backdrop of SF is nearly identical as it is today.

Nice cars!

Kind of funny to see junked cars in yards, I don't think you really see that in West Oakland these days, though it's not like I spend much time there. When I lived in Chicago you'd see it in the West Side a lot.

I have a cool book called "San Francisco" that was published in '74. I recently found it for $1 at a book sale! Moving to to area next month so I had a lot of fun getting a glimpse from the past. Here are some shots I took from it:
