People talk about how hot it can get in Poway in the summer, but both wikipedia and weather.com say the average high for Poway in Jun/July/Aug is only 81 or 82. Does it just get into the 90s for a very short time like maybe a few weeks in July or something?

Hm, that average seems a bit low to me. Even Bay Area inland valleys are hotter than that. I'd say it depends on what part of Poway that average is taken from. It spreads pretty far west to east, and the farther east of I-15 you go, the hotter it gets. I've certainly seen it get into the 90s plenty, and when it does, it gets sticky, usually in mid-July through August.

Poway is far enough from the ocean [8 miles] that 90F readings occur, esp in late summer into fall.

absolutely. Given the hot summers we've had over the past few years, you should expect at least 4-6 weeks of 90-100 temps from late August-October. Poway sits in a valley, so it can get even hotter.

Obviously I believe you guys since you live in the area, I'm just curious why every major weather source paints a completely different picture. It's really really weird. I can't find a single source that indicates 90-100 degree temps in Poway. Good thing there are cool forums like this to get feedback from real people. Thanks!

81 seems low to me too. Central Poway consistently sees highs of 85-90 during the summer. Last year there were around 15 days with highs in triple digits. Usually does not go higher than 110 though.

Weird. That graph shows 92 in August. Here's the seemingly identical page/graph I found on weather.com that shows 82 in August lol

^^That is weird! I have family in Poway and know for sure that 90's are a common occurrence.

Low 100s is fairly common in Poway during recent summers. Higher humidity too.
