I was just wondering what the chances might be of finding an apartment that has a month to month rental as opposed to a lease type rental? I'm looking to move to SD in the spring and would like to have a couple months to really decide exactly where I want to live before I jump into a 6 month or a year lease on an apartment. Does anyone know of places like this around the Ocean Beach area? Or Hillrest? Thanks for any advice!

Month to month leases are very common in San Diego. I've rented 4 apartments in San Diego, and only one, a newly built apartment, required a 6 month lease; the rest were month-to-month. That being said, after you rent a place, shear inertia will probably keep you from pulling up stakes before 6 months, so don't necessarily fear the 6 month lease.

A lot of times monthly rent for a mont-to-month is higher vs. a 6 or 12-month lease.
