Hi! I'm brand new to this forum and I am a white/hispanic female about to purchase a home near 35th and Orange in North Park.
Just to give you some background, I have rented in Hillcrest for 2 years, University Heights/Hillcrest border for 1 year and then decided to purchase a condo at the PEAK of the market in Logan Heights which is FINE - don't listen to what other people say - I've lived in this area 3 years and I have had ZERO problems. This just gives you a background of where I have lived in San Diego so I understand 'sketchy' areas.
Now with the market being where it is, I'm ready to purchase a home and wondering how this area is on 35th near Orange in North Park. Thank you so much for participating!!

35th and Orange is North Park zip but really is City Heights. It's sketchy. Not terrible, but sketchy.

If you go to the police website for SD, there is an "interactive mapping application" under their crime maps section. You can type in the address of the home you're interested in and find out which crimes have been committed nearby, and when they occurred.
The site is San Diego Regional Crime MAPS
That won't tell you much about the people who live there -- might want to talk to the neighbors to see what they're like, too.

Been through there a few times recently and I have seen cops numerous times.Sometimes looking for something or someone, sometimes just on patrol. The Mid-City sub is right down the street at Fairmount Ave JSO Univ.Avenue.I personally think West of the 805 in the Mid-City area is better but the area you described seems to be ok.Could be better.

Default your condo?

SO what are you going to do with your condo that you purchased at the peak?? You are surely underwater on it....are you going to rent it out?? or are you going to sell it at a loss or do a short sale?? and wont that effect your new loan??
