We just moved to San Diego and I'm pregnant and am researching hospitals/doctors. Obviously insurance limits us to certain facilities, Scripps La Jolla Hospital is one that is in our network. Has anyone given birth here and what was theirexperience like? One thing that really concerns me is that many hospitals here seem to have 'semi-private' rooms and that seems really old school. I can't imagine having to share a room with someone you don't know after having a baby. Does Scripps La Jolla have all private recovery rooms or is it on a first come first served basis? Thanks so much for any info!

Hi - I delivered at Scripps Encinitas and the "semi-private" room was not so cool. It was really hard to share the space -- my roommate was great but there just wasn't nearly enough room for 4 adults and 2 newborns sleeping in one little room. It was claustrophobic, esp. if you're on the side without the window.

I have heard the La Jolla rooms are WAY better. They are all private, so that should help!

I have given birth three times at Scripps La Jolla and about to have my fourth there. This hospital is great. No sharing of rooms and there is an incredible staff 24/7. I would not deliver anywhere else.

I delivered at Sharp Mary Birch & had a private room. Glad I was there as our twins needed their NICU facilities. Had a great experience.

I've had several friends deliver at Scripps La Jolla and they all have nothing but positive things to say about the staff, the private rooms (all) and delivery.
