^^I've got a few friends who live in Eastlake, Otay Ranch and Rolling Hills, but I haven't visited them recently. You can count on me to take some pics when I finally make down there.

Great pics, hanna_house!

Here's more:

A quick drive up to Presidio Park

The Serra Museum was built in 1928

Enjoying the views

Looking east over Mission Valley

West towards Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean

Due north is the Catholic USD (University of San Diego aka "University of Spoiled Daughters")

Zooming in on Mt. Soledad in La Jolla

Little Italy Festa last weekend

People and more people

It was funny to see the Democrat and Republican booths standing next to each other

Chalk artists doing their thing

Even the kids get in on the act

An afternoon and lunch in Balboa Park

Botanical Building (yes, it's free to go in )

On this warm afternoon, it felt alot cooler once inside

Lunch in the beautiful sculpture garden.

Old meets new

Ornate Museum of Man building

Standing on the Cabrillo Bridge looking towards downtown and the 163 below

Oh look, it's the San Diego Pagan Pride festival

I was afraid to take face pics of these self-proclaimed witches for fear that they would put a spell on me

Imperial Beach Sandcastle Competition earlier this Summer

Shots of the Chicano Park murals located under the foot of the Coronado Bridge in Barrio Logan. The absolute best time to come here is during Chicano Park Days when the place turns into a showcase of lowrider cars and bikes. And don't forget that Porkyland is down the street

Did you know that there was a fountain under the bridge?

More to come!!!

sdurbanite:

You really need to tell me where and when these things are going on. Festa looked very crowded and really cool. I don't know how to get to Presidio Park or to that area under the bridge with the murals.

I will definitely go to next years ssandcastle competition though. I missed it this year. Got here 2 weeks late.

I actually posted a seperate thread about Festa, but it disappeared pretty quickly. Tiny Presidio Park is on top of a hill that is sandwiched in between Old Town and Mission Hills. You'll see alot of people taking wedding pictures there.

On my way to Santee (Hot, hot, hot....it was 99 degrees that day), I decided to take the shortcut thru Mission Trails Regional Park via Father Junipero Serra Road. Here are some shots of the 2 mile drive:

Look at all of the cars that belong to the bikers, hikers, walkers and joggers that use this park everyday

The beginning of the one-way road

During the rainy season, these brown hills turn a vibrant green

Can you believe this urban oasis is only 8 miles (as the crow flies) northeast of Downtown San Diego? It's only 4 miles from my house

You'll find over 40 miles of hiking trails here

Look closely and find the amateur rock climbers setting up

I've only tried this in an indoor gym, and it's a blast

A trio of hikers

The end of the road

Once it starts to cool down, this 5,200-acre park will once again become my backyard playground

wow, how I miss it there. Lived there for 8 years. Thanks for the pics of Mission Trails. I used to live in the San Carlos area right by there.

San Diego truly is beautiful
