I read on the city of San Diego fire department website that fireworks are illegal in the entire county. This includes sparklers, firecrackers, and poppers. Does that mean you guys don't have any firework stands in the county? None at all?

Nope. None. As a native, the first time I saw one of those roadside stands in San Bernardino County, I couldn't believe it. We used to go to mexico and bring back some cool stuff, but it's not worth it now.

The answer to your question is no.

They sell them in Tijuana especially around the holidays recognized in Mexico, but crossing with fireworks is kind of iffy so I have never done that.

I usually buy some on my way back from Texas in New Mexico and Arizona which sell fireworks year-round. I quit buying ones that shoot into the air a couple years back since my neighbor down the hill got very upset with me for shooting them off one time. It was a drizzling January day and I was shooting 'roman candles' into the air over an empty treeless lot next door to me. I figured since the ground was saturated due to the steady rain/drizzle over that past few days that it would be safer, but I realized that day that East County folks are VERY paranoid about brush fires (and righfully so) when she threatened to call the police on me.

Since then, I only bring back the ones that remain on the ground that emit sparks and showers at a lower height.

Well, that answers that! I needed the answer for work and UT San Diego hasn't mentioned it being illegal. Thanks!

I remember driving through Missouri last year and they seemed to every three miles, with huge billboards proclaiming the next exit for each.

Totally shocking when you are from California.

Ya I'd plan out a day to go down to TJ if you have time. Just make sure they're hidden well and not visible when you bring them back.

Worst advice ever. Our friend was searched & detained at the border & heavily fined. And this many years ago. Not at all worth it.

With all the brush, as dry as it is...who is stupid enough to start playing with fireworks?

I'm sure that since it's 4th of July weekend, extra searches will be done. I wouldn't risk it.
