Hello everyone! I just had a quick question and maybe someone can give me some advice. I've lived here in San Diego for almost a year. I'm in the middle of moving from Banker's Hill to Kearny Mesa. How bad is the commute to Kearny Mesa to La Mesa? I work at night so I am constantly in traffic going into work and getting off. What is the best route? I'll be living right off of Kearny Villa Road. Any advice or route would be much appreciated! I tend to leave for work at 5:30 pm from Banker's Hill currently....

Not a bad commute, thanks to the new freeways: take I-52 to I-125 in Santee, and 5 minutes later you're at Spring Street (south of I-8). 52 gets busy at rush hour going through Mission Trails, and you'll be going with the traffic out of town even if you're going to work, not returning, but at least the scenery is great . Going home should not be a problem at all if you're leaving work before 6 am.

You can also go 52 to I-15 to I-8 and Spring St., but traffic tends to be much worse. You don't want to be stuck on the grade going up to College Ave.

You could also take the 805 south to the 8 east, you typically see traffic snarls from around 4p-6p Monday-Friday. The only other traffic problem would be when Viejas Arena has a concert and traffic backs up in at least the 3 and 4 lanes from about just past Fairmount to the Arena.

Thanks for the advice and suggestions! I usually need to be in La Mesa by 6:30 pm and I don't usually leave work to go home before 8 am. So I always tend to be stuck in traffic. I'll be experimenting with different routes once I move but I really do appreciate the feedback! Any other suggestions would be much appreciated!

These route suggestions above are great.
One more to add is to take the 805>94 if all others are backed up or depending on which part of La Mesa you need to get to.

There is a Spring St exit there past Lemon Grove. But like the other freeways, it will be somewhat congested between 5-6, but not a jam unless there is a bad accident.

Yeah, I was going to say do the 805 to the 94. I don't think you'll run into too much traffic that way.
