We are contemplating a job change to Carlsbad. With traffic the way it is, do we settle for living in Carlsbad or can we venture out to San Marcos? What other communities within a 20 mile radious should we consider? We would probably rent first so can you also recommend nice, preferrably new, apartments?

Thanks!

Default I just moved to Carlsbad

And I live 4 miles from work. Carlsbad is way better than San Marcos. Believe me. I have views of the ocean from my little condo complex in la costa. And you will save a lot of frustration in commuting just by living here.

I would pick Carlsbad as well, even though I live in San Marcos (and I like it). If you have the luxury of choice, pick Carlsbad. It's prettier and cooler (climate-wise).
I second the idea of Pizza Port. Also check out a little hole-in-the-wall, Don's Cafe for great breakfasts.
