I am just beginning to look around Banning as a possible relocation site. We have been looking at 55+ manufactured home communities, but are open to other possibilities. The last place we looked at (Banning Estates/Mountain Springs) was located on Wilson/Highland Springs Rd. The area seemed quite beautiful, clean and graffiti free. I especially liked the wide open spaces and fields. The 55+ parks we looked at had the added benefit of being able to own the property so there wasn't any space rent.

Can anybody give me more information on the town? Areas to avoid or to consider? I like classic older homes in nice neighborhoods like in Beaumont. Does Banning have an area like that?

I know a few of the basics about the town; that it's near the 10fwy and the new shopping center. It used to have a terrible reputation as far as crime was concerned but I've heard tell that the PD has cracked down on that. Is that a rumor? I know that their downtown area has been run down for a long time, but they are trying to give it a face lift. I haven't been down there for over a year. It was still pretty seedy the last time I went.

Thanks for your help...

There are many great areas to retire in Banning. Sun Lakes is one of the more popular communities because it offers incredible amenities and senior activities. There are also nice older communities on the north end of Banning. Beaumont has some very nice communities including PGA and Oak Valley. Unfortunately they have seen a giant population growth in bad economic times and are attracting some less desirable residents. Hopefully things will turn for the better in Beaumont but for now I would stick to Banning.
