We are interested in learning about wind velocities, blown dust and sand, and general pollution in the Apple Valley area.

Apple Valley gets a bad reputation for being windy. I've been here four years and, just like OC. it has some windy days. Not a lot, but every place has some wind. It's nothing like the area below Cajon Pass. That's where the hi desert winds are you hear about...
We didn't get any of the Santa Ana winds that caused all the fires down the hill...
There are a lot of open areas around here, so when the wind blows, it gets dusty.
Pollution..? Never noticed any..!
Not sure where you would go to get official information on your questions...
I came here four years ago after 50 years in OC, and I have loved every minute of it.....

Thanks for the reply. After living 4 years in Corvallis, Oregon, where the air is very polluted from diesal fuel and other auto exhaust, and pollution from wood burning fireplaces, and, of course, farm field burning, we're thinking of returning to our native state, California. Oregon has no auto emission controls, nor bans on field burning, nor what you can burn in your fireplace...no regulations at all. We are very disappointed in Oregon in regard to its polluted air and waterways. We visited Apple Valley several years ago when we were living in San Diego and liked it a lot. Thanks again for your reply.

I never noticed much pollution, but I've lived there all my life until recently, so I could just be used to it. We get some light pollution from LA. We get some really fun windy days (every high school graduation) but usually its not too bad. The dust part depends on where you are. If you're in the middle of town its fine, but towards the edges (western end especially) the dirt and dust is worse.
