We lived in Banning several years back and I've been sorry we left. I liked the fact that the mountains or beaches weren't far. We didn't have much traffic or lots people to deal with in town. Shopping in Palm Springs or outlet mall wasn't far.
So how is the area now? Thanks

Beaumont and Cherry Valley seem to be booming. There’s been lots of development south of I-10. Not so much in Banning, though. The San Gorgonio Pass area is becoming more of a bedroom community for Riverside and San Bernardino. Beaumont Transit has increased commuter bus service to Redlands and San Bernardino.

Banning is a diamond in the rough. As you know it pretty much has perfect year round weather and on the few days it doesn't, there is somewhere within 20 mins drive that does. The thing I don't like about it are the population of undesirables, meth head looking white trash black trash and latin trash peoples who live here. And the eyesore of a downtown area really takes away from the huge potential of this city. Mostly its a sleepy beautiful town with good hard working people, tons of older homes with character, and access to stunning nature either north of the city towards the bench, south of the city towards the san jacinto, and east of the city towards palm to pine. The schools rank low in terms of overall scores, but if you consider scores without including low income population then they are really about average. I'm confident that Banning will continue to develop and imo is a way more handsome town than Beaumont.
