KENS 5 has announced the debut of a new 4:00PM weekday newscast to be anchored by Deborah Knapp and Bill Taylor. It'll be the first 4PM newscast in San Antonio, but follows a trend in other markets around the country.

Great! Another "news"cast that I won't be watching. What demographic still gets their news this way? I am asking because I would honestly like to know? Is it mostly the really older crowd?

Good question. From the article, it sounds they're aiming for "people who don't watch Oprah." Does that mean men who are unemployed or retired?

Well, I am probably the only female on the planet that DOESNT watch Oprah, but I also don't watch local newscasts. I rarely watch national or cable channels either. So yeah, unemployed men and the senior set, I guess. Must be a ton of 'em?

been debating whether to get rid of the tv all together. This ridiculous new news program adds another vote on the "Yes" side.

But what about Jeopardy!? Serious question.

I remember them doing this in the past. I liked it.

Another female here who doesn't watch Oprah. I can't stand her for reasons that I can't post here.

The article at the link in the OP has a serious answer. Jeopardy will still air at 4:30.

Well, had I read the article. I was just so upset! I didn't want to lose it!

Whatever they want to do. I won't be home to watch it anyway.

I'm with you and Sapphire. And you can include "Dr?" Phil in the do not watch category.

But the demographics to address "an audience for an earlier newscast... for Moms at home..." I don't see this working out.
