Who do you think is a better builder DR Horton or Standard Pacific? I'm looking for a house in the Potranco and 1604 area and I've narrowed it down to DR Horton's Amhurst or Standard Pacific's Bella Vista.

The Standard Pacific homes in Bella Vista are not as nice as the other home builders in that subdivision (same goes for the lots). If you go with DR Horton's Amhurst, why not try Redbird Ranch about another 5 miles further West on Potranco? That subdivision has a lot more going for it.

Horton builds a much better product. The materials used are pretty much the same, but Std Pacific has had a revloving door with their employees, you never know who you are dealing with, changes is sales and construction personel is a joke.
Go with Horton, I wish we had.

Check out Standard Pacific homes in Alamo Ranch. They have not sold very many compared to DR Horton, even when SP is in a nicer place with trees.

DR Horton is pretty well established in San Antonio...they used to be known as Continental and we've bought two houses from them...the first was built in 1998 and the second in 2005.

To be honest the quality of workmanship seems to have declined; but it is still a nice home, and overall we are happy with it.

Cheers! M2
