I made a post in the Classified section, but I wanted to ask here about suggested areas for moving to the Schertz/Cibolo area. I know there are a couple of other posts from people moving here from out of state, but I didn't want to hijack their thread.

We currently live in Universal City. I LOVE our neighborhood and the school our kids go to, but in a few years my oldest will be in Middle School, and I am not keen on the Middle School they would go to, and I definitely don't want them going to Judson High School. So this is one of our biggest motivating factors.

Secondly, we both love more of the "country" setting. We have two large dogs- they are inside dogs and are trained, but it would be nice to have a little land so the dogs- and the kids- can have room to run around and play more.

Although, this brings up the third point, budget. We are currently renting, and are looking to possibly move in June, once school is out. I LOVE our home and our landlord, but I know if we move towards Schertz/Cibolo we could get something less expensive. With the economy the way it is these days, I am looking at any way I can to save some pennies. Going to the grocery store- even with cutting back- I spend more now than I did before! Everything is going up in price! We would still want to rent, or possibly rent to own, depending on the location/situation.

We looked off of Hwy 46 a couple of years ago, at a new subdivision called The Vineyard, or something like that, and I LOVED it. However, we are not in a position to build a new home right now. So, if that is to happen, it will be down the road.

So, with all that being said, what are your suggestions for places to look?

there are many subdivisions along FM1103 that have rentals available. the sacrifice may come with yard space. no sprawling grounds, just what you would expect in subdivisions. my son is in the 4th grade and his school (wiederstein) is EXCELLENT. i've heard the same about the entire school district. we are across the street from Steele HS and have friends with children that go there and both kids and parents are happy. as for price, we looked at quite a few rentals around 2000sf priced btw 1100-1400 a month. good luck!

Hwy 46 is pretty far from Schertz/Cibolo
it goes through New Braunfels.
