The trees were a sad loss but most of the ones that line the street along FM78 are staying. The ones that are being condemned are facing the new apartment complex area on S.Seguin, just south of where the city offices are. The are old one story houses being used as businesses that look like Sanford and Sons. They aren't really crumbling but kinda look like a serious lack of cleanliness going on. S.Seguin is going to be widened so they have to go.

Oh hell no, SDOT, move to the Southside if you are moving to Lackland. It will do you no good to live in Converse and commute an hour and a half a day [depending on the traffic]. Also the traffic, gas prices are getting worse and worse. San Antonio has heavy heavy traffic by all of the newcomers. I suggest as far up as Leon..

Ok, I guess Converse is out :P I wasnt sure how far of a commute it would be. So, now we're back on the idea of moving to the NW. Thanks guys for all your input!

I live next to converse, between Converse and Kirby, and I've lived in converse (northhampton) at one point. I work at Lackland/Kelly USA and I may have some info on the drive for you.

26 minutes one way, from front door to desk, traffic is nill. There may be some congestion at 37/35 interchanges, but for the most part from converse, a quick jump on 1516 onto 10/90 west gets me to Gen Hudnell dr in no time. I'm off Foster rd now and I even have construction with 3 arteries are choked/closed, but I have 5 different ways to get to work. Granted I'm looking for a new house on the NW side, partially due to commute, but more due to area.

Traffic on the NW side (right now) can be a nightmare. 151 can easily take you an extra 20 minutes during the 0700-0830 traffic times. If you can jump down to 90 though, that may be a different story. I'm sure others here have more to say about it.

I'm also looking at the north side/stone oak area because I've reasoned with myself that in a city this size and the locations you want to live in, you're gonna have to deal with traffic. It does seem that 151 on the NW side does need to be dealt with.
