Here is a start on westside traffic. What say you?

Why is 1604 on the west side usually ignored when there are discussions about fixing traffic flow in San Antonio? There should be overpasses in the Bruan Road and New Gilbeau Road area. The left turn lane at Shanefield for northbound traffic on 1604 needs to be extended.

sure, lets do that once the people who have bought properties outside the loop start paying city property taxes. nothing planned yet, so dont expect anything until at least 2014.

I don't think we should wait. There are plenty of folks that are just inside the loop. They are indeed paying city taxes and I'm quite sure, use those portions of the road that the OP speaks of. So let's have at it.

1604 is a state highway, so guess who paid for it? It wasn't just those living in the San Antonio city limits!

wc2005, I am in full agreement. Having traffic lights on San Antonio's major loop road is ridiculous and causes lengthy traffic jams. It is one reason I work an early shift, so I can avoid it during my commute. On Saturdays, the backup from Shaenfield can reach back past the Culebra overpass!

Traffic over there (and the sheer distance) is why I avoid the region as much as possible. The few times I've gone that way it was seriously bad.

I say traffic is bad. And I say the bad traffic is caused by the people who live out there. And I say it's going to get worse before it gets better. And I say the people who cause the bad traffic are the folks who need to learn to live with it.
