My wife Picked up this Dog ( we named her Roxy for time being) about a week ago on the lower lvl of I-35 heading towards I-10 and we have not found the owner yet. She was in the middle of the freeway stopping traffic in the early morning hrs of rush hour. She is very affectionate, sweet and loving. I want to say that she is around 1.5 - 3 yrs old. We gave her a bath, put some FrontLine on, however we did not find any flea/ticks on her. She plays very well with other dogs ( we have 2 already 15 and 55 lbs). Unfortunately we cannot take in another dog at the moment and we need to find a good home for her. We don't want to take her to a shelter were she might be put to sleep so we are attempting to find her a home. If you know someone that might be the owner or could give her a wonderful home please pm me.DSC01070.jpgDSC01077.jpgDSC01079.jpg

Have you posted her on craig's list lost and found? You could try rehoming her, too, if no one claims her.

Also, if you have to take her somewhere, instead of Animal Control, try one of the other local rescue groups, Animal Defense League, Humane Society, etc. I listed a few others below, but if you go to either petfinder.com or petharbor.com and search your zipcode, you will find other organizations that you could contact. Perhaps one of the ones below can direct you to someone who can help. Good luck and thanks for saving her from certain death.

Don't forget to post this in the pets section too, if it's allowed. She looks like a happy and healthy Catahoula Leopard Dog.

Think about requesting a re-homing fee if you choose to find her a home.

Please, nobody should ever advertise "free dog", "free kittens" etc.

A person who wants to adopt the dog from you should be able to pay 50/100 bucks, you can turn around and donate the $ to a shelter if you choose or pay yourself back for any food or supplies purchased for the duration that you housed her.

This is so true. Do ask for a rehoming fee.

Well, once you name a stray, it's yours to keep. That is in the rule book somewhere.

Good luck...she's a nice-looking dog. The ridiculous stray problem in this city is just getting worse with the economy tanking. People won't give up their cigarettes, but they will damn sure throw out the dog.

Sure is...that's why I ended up keeping our latest stray. Kids named her and that was the end of that.

There will be a re-homing fee...just dont know how much if it be the case that we cannot find a green shelter for her. And no...we will not be taking her in even though we name named her. I do see how that could happen haha...already getting attached a little.
