Shoutout to my buds at AMEX, though! They caught it and fixed it and I had a new card the very next day!!

Wow. Good on AMEX, and lucky you!

Well, lucky me too! It turns out a lot of the main material was backed up on the C drive. Back in business. I immediately backed it up again on another external drive. Back to Office Depot for an exchange. But they will give me grief because it is 16 days. They only warrant 14 days.

wow, a hard drive that only lasted 16 days? Tell them the MTBF on them is in the hundreds of thousands of hours now and it didn't quite reach that.
Did it totally die, like not even turn on? or did it start gashing up the disc before Windows returned the sector error messag? I keep stuff on several different computers and external hard drives.

Isn't it amazing that we can have TB of data storage right at our fingertips, at home, now? Amazes me.

the 1.5's are out now too. What really amazes me are the micro SD cards. They are up to 32 Gb's now and you can get one for a little over $100.

Unfortunately, I am also feeling the current economy, and I can't buy more tech goodness yet.

I'm saving for the trip, so I have to be frugal too. I do plan on getting a little netbook for the trip, though. I have a Dell outlet coupon and can get a Mini 10 for $287

and today's dumbest dumba$$ award goes to... Man carjacked, beaten, and shot | WOAI.COM: San Antonio News
I could not have written that article, or at least I could not have written that exact article. Mine would have been rejected by the editor for sure.

wow, I never heard that one. It's getting insane and will only go up from here. I don't even have 2 Tb's between my three laptops and three desktops.
