I was justing wondering if anyone knew of new developments on Walzem Rd. I currently drive through there and I see something going in the old Burger King. And I have also seen something happening in the old KFC.

Default day late dollar short

NOW there is a big uprising about the re-development of walzem Rd. Where were these people when there were gangs in the Mall and and slow decay for years? I remember when Windsor Park was built. Oh, so much, hope and so much faith. Well maybe this could be a lesson to always be vigilant and always care about your community BEFORE it becomes an area, "that by the way is not that old",that HAS to be RE-developed

Well it looks like the area has finally stabilized. It started declining in the late 80's after the real estate bust. Alot of those homes got foreclosed on, and were turned into rentals, especially further east along montgomery rd. Now that SAHA has announced that Section 8 housing will no longer be available in the area it should make it more inviting. You also have to remember that the early 90's were a bad time for San Antonio as a whole, the East and the West sides were controlled by gangs. Windsor got a bad rap it didn't deserve, but it was too late. I thinking if they use the Austin Highway model it could be very successful, they just need to get some businesses in that are willing to take a chance and to actively pursue areas like Northwood and Alamo Heights to come over and shop.
