We are in a fairly new house, and keep it clean - but it didn't stop the ants from trying to come in a month ago. I was lucky enough to see where they were coming in- a tiny sliver of a crack in caulking at our back door. So, I went along and caulked along any areas I thought needed it again. Then, I went to Lowe's and got the Bayer ant and bug spray, for indoor and outdoor use. Its great stuff. I used it all along the outside of the perimeter of the house, and we haven't seen anything since. I used the same Bayer spray when we lived in Virginia for ants we had in a really old property, and my mother's house- and it worked great every time. Good luck.

Great! We'll try that stuff out. Ever since we saw that little thing we've been so paranoid.

They are seaking water with the drought...happens from time to time and always near a facet (sink, tub)...we have a quarterly service and NO bugs ever, but those little ants start to show up when it gets really dry looking for water.

I too have read sugar ants aren't usually looking for sugar, but for water. make sure you dry out all sinks, tubs, etc whenever you see them.

For the person with scorpions, you should try Triazicide. We had our house built and thus had to deal with plenty of unwanted pests. Scorpions, Spiders, etc. At first we tried Home Defense but it wasn't strong enough. When we tried Triazicide the bugs started to die on the spot. Read the directions carefully because this stuff is very strong.
