FYI-

Just got back from HEB, where there was a sign at the newspaper rack, advising that the single-copy print edition of the Sunday Express-News has increased in price from $2.00 to $3.00, effective 03/05/2016.

WOW!!! That kitty box liner is getting expensive. That's about all that paper is good for.

Ya know, they are going to "price" themselves right out of existence.

People understand that cost rise, and an increase now and then is necessary, but you expect to see .25 or .50 cent increase. When they jump a $1 an increase, you KNOW they are just getting greedy because there is NO way they would have waited for the increase if the cost was truly justified.

They are a relatively small town paper quality trying to keep up with the "bigboy" city pricings. If you compare Dallas or Houston Sunday paper SA, it is 3-5X as large.

I agree, Paka. An incremental price increase would have been much easier for the reader to swallow, than a 50% increase. IIRC, the price was $1.75, before it went up to $2.00.

IMO, the Express-News really doesn't have the content of the papers in larger markets, as it is. Without adding additional content or value to the product, a price increase of that size is bound to result in at least a temporary dip in sales. I would think that extra dollar increase should suffice for at least the next several years.

If the "home delivery" is going up as well as the "on the rack" price, I am cancelling our subscription. Does anyone know what the home delivery plan is for price increase?

The last time I bought a Sunday paper, it was $1.00. I overpaid. LOL $3.00 is insane. I don't even read their website anymore. Pure junk. Way too many places to get the news these days.

Since you're already getting a break on the rack price with a subscription (or used to anyway), I'd expect the subscription to go up $1 as well. Or very close to it.

I haven't read a newspaper paper since the day after Obama was elected in 2008. I certainly do not miss it or it's clutter. There are so many other ways to get the news for less money and less of a hassle.

My thing about the newspaper, any of them, is that unless you live in a cave, what is printed is a day or two old by time you read it. What is the point?? Habit?? Heck with "cut the cord", "cut the print".
