Some friends will be moving to San Antonio in the next few months . The wife's mother lives with them now. They know that there will probably be a point in time when it will be better to have her mother live in her own assisted living apartment (mom gets around very well now-the reason she is with them is because they could not find an above average assisted living facility where they are located now without having a long drive to see her). They want to think ahead and let mom stay in a familiar place when/if the time comes that she would need more assistance. Such as private nurse, doctors.
I doubt I would have them look in south SA.
The facility should be newer, high-end. I doubt cost is an issue but lots of things to do/attend plus excellent medical care would be a must.
I am trying to compile a short list for them when they come to visit next month. The daughter/son-in-law don't have a house picked out yet but it doesn't seem that difficult to get around town.

If cost is not an issue, have them try Morningside Minitries at Menger Springs in Boerne. It offers both independent and assisted living with skilled nursing and the Methodist Hospital emergency center essentially next door.

Also, have them look at Adante on NW Military Highway.

Assisted Living For Independent Seniors | Franklin Park | San Antonio, Plano, Dallas, Lewisville and Sagora :: Adante are the two that come to mind for me. The first is in Stone Oak and is relatively large with both independent and assisted living. Adante is a bit smaller but has both as well. It is located in between Castle Hills and Shavano Park.

I second MM. While the facilities may look older, the organization is well run and they offer superior care in graduated nursing settings, from full independence to fully assisted care.

Independence Hill has a very good reputation. There are also THREE new assisted living places now under construction on Stone Oak Parkway if you are interested in that part of town.

Thank you. I have no idea what neighborhood my friends will end up in but these assisted living/more mecical as needed sound pretty much centrally located. Thank you-at least they have a starting point when they come out to scout the area.
