It's begun...

Quote:
The Texas Department of Transportation and Hunter Industries is beginning operational improvements to reconfigure intersections at New Guilbeau Road, Shaenfield Road and State Highway 151.

The purpose of these improvements is to increase travel speeds for motorists and reduce delays during peak hours of travel.

The intersections of New Guilbeau and Shaenfield will be reconstructed as superstreet intersections which will eliminate left turn movements from those roadways onto Loop 1604.

They've only needed to do something about New Guilbeau and Shaenfield for about ten years.

You mean something other than discovering decomposed bodies?!?

I saw the SAPD cruiser parked by that location this morning, along with the police tape. I would be surprised if it was a "body dump" as it's not a low-visibility area and there are much better places nearby (theoretically, of course! ). I wonder if it was a transient that just happened to pass away sleeping in the brush...

Anyhow, I am really looking forward to this improvement of 1604, those two intersections are horrible for backing up traffic and this will help tremendously!

Cheers! M2

I was hoping they were going to do this work at each intersection between Bandera and 151. Braun is just as bad for northbound traffic as Shaenfield is for southbound...

Although the intersections will be configured as superstreets, these projects are separate from the longer superstreet projects, correct?

Actually, there is already a construction crew at the intersection of 1604 and New Guilbeau when I drove past about a half hour ago...

I know, it's sooo scary! I'm glad I don't need to venture through that interchange often.
