Not exactly downtown, but here is Wonderland "mall". This Handy Andy was the only grocery store around back then on the NW side of town. That covered drive-thru in front was where you would pull up your car, and they would load your groceries for you! Check out all them old station wagons....lol.

I've heard of stories about H.L. Greene (five and dime) not sure of the spelling; from my parents. I believe-located somewhere across from the Alamo. Does anyone know anything else or have a photo of this retail store?

The H.L. Green store was at the location of the Grand Opera House. This is the grand before it was torn down and converted into H. L. Green.

Grand Opera House, Grand Theatre

H. L. Green was on Alamo Plaza across the street from the southern border of the Alamo. The property that adjoins the River annex from the Hyatt to the Alamo (on the south side of the River annex) is where the H. L. Green property was located.

Here is an old picture (back in the 80's) of the H.L. Green. It was converted into the Plaza Theatre of Wax.
