Hope that I'm not out of line. I have lurked here for years and scrolled through the gone but not forgotten threads. Some folks have mentioned the movies that SA TV stations used to show on Saturday afternoons. I have researched them and started a blog that catalogs them. I started at 1980 and am going to 1984, and then will post the years 75-80.
I'm also going to do the same for Project Terror when I'm finished with this one. I call it Saturday Afternoon San Antonio Movies it's at Saturday Afternoon San Antonio Movies
Like I said I don't wanna be out of line, I just wanted to share this stuff. I started it because I myself was interested in the titles I used to watch when I was a kid and I could not find any info on the net.
I started a new thread because I searched and didn't see one. If there is one just point me in that direction.

I know it wasn't in the afternoon, but I remember being so excited to see "Neverending Story" late at night sometime around 11pm or midnight on WOAI (KMOL back then) on a Saturday or Sunday night. This was long before DVR, DVDs and Netflix streaming.

It was cool at the time.

xsa, there were tons of movies shown on local tv. Before cable showed up every night of the week it seemed there were movies after the news and weekday afternoons and weekends. Just tons of films.
It was great!

willsatx, I remembered Charlie Chan movies but digging through the first half of the 80's I haven't found any. I'm figuring they'll show up in the last half of the 70's.

While at my parents in SA recently for a visit, I ran across old newspapers saved because of various events throughout the 70s and 80s. I did see a television page from 1985 that was saved along with the story of the 13 inch snowfall we had in January of that year. Channel 5's Saturday afternoon movies were still being shown in 1985 and it had a couple Abbott and Costello movies listed. I'll have to check again when I fly back for another visit.

I do remember seeing Charlie Chan movies along with Abbott and Costello movies and Tarzan movies Saturday afternoons. Charlie Chan was definitely on a lot in the 70s because I watched them as a kid and remember seeing some of them repeated...same with Abbott and Costello movies.

IIRC, the channel 5 Saturday afternoon movies seemed to begin after the midday showing of the CBS Children's Film Festival, if anyone remembers that.

Very cool site. You have done tons of work on this. A film geek like me appreciates it. Can't wait for the Project Terror entries. I later recognized many of the movies I first saw on Project Terror on Mystery Science Theater.
