I know I go as little as possible. Exorbitant parking rates, traffic, crowds, crime, etc. keep me from going except when something extra good is happening at the Majestic, or elsewhere.

I go maybe every two years or so.

A few times a year. I used to go more when we had season tickets to the Magik Theater. I'm not fond of the parking options, either.

We may go twice a year and it's typically not by choice. Usually a family member has chosen to eat downtown for a celebration, and we cross our fingers they choose a place with valet(typically they don't). My husband drives a F-250 so parking sucks for us, parking garages are not the safest places to be, and the "sketchy" people are not too comforting.

Court or jail mostly

But seriously, I pass thru downtown several times a month at least, but seldom to get out and see sites or shop. I would say I hit the Maj, Rivercenter or a handful of restaurants maybe six times a year.

I do usually go a few times during Fiesta though

Wow, you live up to your name! "Exorbitant parking rates, traffic, crowds, crime, etc?" Have you ever been to the downtown section of any major city in the US before?

San Antonio pales in most of those categories except one...crowds. If there is one thing that I have noticed in all my travels across the US, it is that SA has one of the most active downtowns I've seen!

Except for places like NY or LA, most downtowns turn into ghost towns at night; but San Antonio's is alive and vibrant.

The parking rates downtown are not that bad, and no worse than any other city I have been in. Traffic is pretty light considerably, you can't expect it to be non-existent considering the number of people there. Actually, considering the number of people downtown, it is pretty impressive that traffic isn't much worse than it is!

Crime? Give me a break, there is very little crime in the busy areas of downtown. SA heavily depends on tourism, and if there was a threat of crime there wouldn't be the crowds you see downtown in the evenings. Once again the urban myth that SA has bad crime is being spread without basis. You are safer on the Riverwalk or around the Alamo than you are in any major city in the US!

We go downtown quite often, a few times a month. We love taking visitors there as everyone really enjoys it. Sure, it's a bit touristy, and the restaurants a bit pricey (just look at my recent posts concerning the Tower of the Americas); but for the most part we have one of the best downtowns to visit in the country!

we go quite a bit as well. why not take advantage of everything we have here to offer. theres something about going to the riverwalk that just makes us feel like we got away for a while and relaxes us.

We used to get downtown a couple times a month but then I started this infernal PhD program. Now we're lucky if we get downtown once every two months.

I love our downtown. I'd live downtown if I were single. My husband needed a yard though. But at least I got him inside 410!

Well, I work downtown, so I'm there every day for work. For social stuff, we go maybe once or twice a month. But we don't go "out" much anyway...we're real homebodies. We go to most of the shows that go to the majestic and go to the symphony a few times a year. We always try to go DT during Christmastime to see the lights.
